Biography

Born September 16, 1952 in a peasant family in the village of Lyshchiki, Kobrin district, Brest region of the Belorussian SSR .

From 1969 to 1974, Charota I.A. studied at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Philological Faculty of BSU. After his graduation, he worked for three years as a teacher in the Poletskish secondary school of the Voronovsky district of the Grodno region. In 1977, he was hired by the Belarusian State University , where he held, respectively, the position of teacher - senior lecturer, assistant professor, and then, after completing doctoral studies from 1991 to 1994 , he began to head the newly formed department of Slavic studies (Slavic literature). He defended his candidate dissertation “The Creativity of M. A. Sholokhov and the Literary Process of Yugoslavia (1956-1986)” at the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute ( Leningrad , 1986 ), and his doctoral thesis “Belarusian Literature of the Twentieth Stagodzia I Pracessa Natsyyanalnaga Samavysnachennya” at BSU ( Minsk , 1998 ). I.A. Charota focused his scientific interests primarily on the literature and cultures of the Slavic peoples. For more than twenty-five years, he heads the bureau of the section for literary translation and literary relations of the Union of Writers of Belarus, has been translating from Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Polish and other languages ​​into Belarusian and Russian, as well as from Belarusian and Russian into Serbian. The result of his work is more than 1200 printed translations, including over 70 books, including works by the following authors: Patriarch Serbsky Pavel , Nikolay Velimirovich , Justin Popovich , Marko S. Markovich , Faddey Štrbulović , Ivo Andrich , Branislav Nusic , Rade Drainac , Dobrita Chosic , Nevena Vitosevic-Cheklich , Zoran Gavrilovich , Mira Radoevich and Lyubodrag Dimich , Momir Lazic , Dragan Lakichevich , Grozdana Oluich , Goran Petrovich , Ben Zupanchich , Formerly Vorantz , Josip Jurchic , Drago Yanczar and others FROM Twentieth Century Theology ”, in which more than four dozen books have already been published.
