Iboya Chuck was born in 1915 in Budapest . In 1936, she took part in the Olympic Games in Berlin , where she won a gold medal in high jump under unusual circumstances: all three applicants for the medal took a height of 160 cm, but could not overcome 162 cm with three attempts. Then it was decided to allow the fourth attempt , and Iboya Chuck became the only one who was able to overcome 162 cm.
In 1938, the European Championships in Women Athletics was first held. Iboya Chuck took second place in him in the high jump, but it soon became clear that Dora Ratien from Germany, who won first place, was actually a man. After the disqualification, Ratien Chuck was recognized as the European champion.
