Vladimir Dmitrievich Degtyarev ( January 18, 1916 - October 6, 1974 ) - Soviet animator , production designer and screenwriter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1969) [1] .

Biography
Born on January 18, 1916 in Moscow [2] .
In 1937 he graduated from the Leningrad Art College . With the beginning of World War II, he was called up to the front. In 1942 he became disabled: due to a wound, his right arm was amputated. Without examinations, he was admitted to VGIK to the art department, which he graduated in 1948. In the process of training, he again learned to draw and write with his left hand [2] [3] .
In the same year he was enrolled in the staff of Soyuzmultfilm . He worked as a production designer in the films of the directors V. Gromov , M. Pashchenko , B. Dezhkin and G. Filippov . Since 1953 - director of drawn and (mainly) voluminous films. He was among the founders of the Creative Union of Puppet Films on Soyuzmultfilm and Screen, where he staged one of the first post-war puppet cartoons, Two Greedy Teddy Bears (1954) [4] . He collaborated with artists V.P. Danilevich , A.P. Kuritsyn and others, and also often combined the duties of a director and a production designer. He worked exclusively for a children's audience [2] .
Since 1956, he repeatedly became a member of the Soyuzmultfilm artistic council and the KhPO puppet film arts council. He was a member of the board of the puppet association of the studio (1960), a member of the commission for the development of the technological process of production of puppet films (1961).
He died on October 6, 1974 at the take-off of his creative career from cancer, which developed as a result of wounds received during the war, and did not finish work on the last film-fairy tale “Underground Flowers” [3] .
