Literature in Runet

Publications on the Internet of literary and pseudo-literary works and their surrogates have given rise to the new term “ seturatura ”. Setetura introduced a new concept in literature in its “paper” version. Network text can be digitized from a paper original, or it can be written right away in digital form, it can use hypertext .

Many readers get acquainted with the texts of various authors directly from the screen of their monitor, tablet, phone. Widespread use includes an e-book. Old formats, such as pdf and djvu, are supplemented with new, more advanced ones, designed specifically for use on compact devices, for example fb2. One of the advantages of this format is its convenient navigation implemented through hypertext.

Beginners and famous authors can publish their works and discuss them on specialized literary portals. Among the well-known sites should be noted Proza.ru and Poetry.ru , Poetry.ru, as well as the magazine "Samizdat" . There are many smaller sites, such as the Russian Internet Publishing House Ruizdat.ru, Izba-Reading Room, Litsovet or Litprichal. It is worth noting that these resources become obsolete over time; many of them lose relevance due to the active outflow of the audience to social networks and the inability to compete with more dynamic platforms on modern software platforms, as happened with the previously known sites Whistle.ru and Leto “Point of View”. As an example of new, actively using the social functionality of the sites, we can name the "Writers' Workshop" and the literary portal LitKult .

In connection with the increased competition between resources offering the possibility of free publication, there are more and more attempts to use the experience of paper periodicals, the so-called "thick" magazines, as part of online publications. An editorial selection of works appears, more often an emphasis is placed on their quality, rather than the mass audience. Some resources evolve to the release of their own magazines in pdf and fb2 formats.

At the same time, a counter process is also observed: the classic magazine periodicals, losing circulation and state funding, are more actively streaming on the Internet. Instead of trying to implement electronic versions of magazines from their own sites, an increasing number of publications are spreading binder files on special aggregator services for free, the most significant of which is the Journal Hall today, the number of views of which exceeded one million in 2014, which allows us to speak of a decreasing gap between the number of audience originally online publications and the audience of "thick" magazines.

Among the significant literary communities formed in the Internet environment and who can claim to have their own school, the Halftone community should be mentioned.

Famous figures of Russian-language Internet literature are considered Leonid Kaganov , Linor Goralik , Yashka Casanova and others.
