Biography
The native grandson of the writer and translator August Kotzebue (1761-1819), the son of Karl Yevstafyevich Kotzebue (1805-1896), the nephew of Vasily Yevstafyevich Kotzebue (1813-1887). Born in Riga .
He was an attaché, then junior secretary of the Russian diplomatic mission in Frankfurt (1862–1868), junior (1868–1872), then senior secretary of the embassy in Berlin (1872–1884), adviser to the embassy in Paris (1884–1892) [2] . The Russian envoy in Baden , Württemberg and the duchies of Saxe-Coburg and Saxe-Gotha (1892–1895) and in Washington (1895–1897).
Family
- From his marriage to Praskovia Paulina Mavros (1833-1902) had children Maria (Marie Madeline) Ernestovna (1863-1939) and Pavel (Paul) Ernestovich (1865-1947), Lieutenant General , St. George Knight .
- The second marriage was married to Alexander Ilyinskaya (1866-1918).
