Geography
The city is located in the southeastern part of Uttar Pradesh, north of the Ganges River , at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level [1] . Gyanpur is located approximately 218 kilometers southeast of Lucknow , the state’s administrative center, and 620 kilometers southeast of New Delhi , the country's capital.
Demographics
According to the 2001 official census , the population of the city was 12,056 people, of which 53.9% were men, 46.1% were women. Adult literacy rate was 65.5%. The literacy rate among men was 72.5%, among women - 57.4%. 15.4% of the population were children under 6 years of age [2] .
