Biography
He studied in Berlin with Hugo Dehert .
In 1918 - 1926 soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra , then until 1935 the accompanist of the cello in the Weimar Chapel.
From 1933 he taught at the Weimar Higher School of Music , from 1934 a professor, from 1945 to 1948 . Director
In the 1930-50s. performed as part of the piano trio of Julius Dalke (with clarinet player Alfred Richter and, after Dalke's death, pianist Rudolf Schmidt), also in the post-war years as part of the string quartet Gerhard Bosse . As a soloist he also played viola and gamba .
Author of a number of study guides for cellists. Schultz edited suites for cello solo by Max Reger (1941), sonatas for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven , duets for two cellos by F.A. Kummer and others.
