Physical-geographical characteristic
Lake of glacial or karst origin.
Area - 10 kmΒ² (1000 ha), length - about 6000 m, width - about 4000 m. The lake is characterized by sloping, low shores [1] .
Depth - 2-5 m, the maximum depth reaches 5 m [1] . The bottom is sandy, covered with silt. The water is translucent, peaty with a brown color. Visibility up to 40 cm.
There are two large islands (Dubovy and Birch) and three small islands on the lake.
In the north, the Buzha flows into the lake, in the south - the Pra river flows [2] .
Among aquatic vegetation, reeds, hard reeds, arrowheads, duckweed, elodea, teloresis, and rhizomes are common; There are: egg capsule, water lily, sedge, cattail, amphibian buckwheat, Canadian rice, frog pond, water horsetail, less commonly, saber, and plantain. The lake is inhabited by pike, perch, ruff, loach, crucian carp, roach, burbot, tench, ide. There are muskrats, beavers [1] .
The lake is used for fishing and hunting for migratory birds.
