Joseph "Joe" Schuster ( born Joe Shuster ; born July 10, 1914 Toronto , Canada - July 30, 1992, Los Angeles , USA ) is a Canadian-American comic book creator. Together with the writer Jerry Siegel, he is the author of one of the most recognizable characters in comics and the films set based on them - Superman . This character ranks first on the IGN's "100 Greatest Comic Book Heroes" list in May 2011 .

Biography
Joseph Schuster was born in Toronto , Ontario, into a Jewish family. His father, Julius, is an immigrant from Rotterdam, mother of Ida, originally from Ukraine .
Death
Schuster died July 30, 1992 in West Los Angeles at his home from heart failure and hypertension. He was 78 years old. [1] [2]
