Montanari, Ilson de Jesus

Helson de Jesus Montanari was born on July 18, 1959 , in Sertanzinho , in the state of São Paulo , within the territory of the Archdiocese of Ribeiran Preto . He attended elementary school from 1965 to 1969 in Sertanzinho.

Montanari continued to study law and economics at the University of Ribeiran Preto. He received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the Research Center of the Riebeiran Preto Archdiocese. He studied at the diocesan seminary from 1982 to 1985 . He was sent to Rome , where he received a bachelor of theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University from 1985 to 1988 . While he was studying in Rome, he resided at the Pontifical College of Pio Brasiliano.

Montanari was ordained a priest on August 18, 1989 for the archdiocese of Ribeiran Preto. After his ordination, he was appointed a spiritual mentor, and a year later was appointed professor of theology at Ribeiran Preto and at the same time at Uberaba Seminary until 1994 . From 1990 to 2001 . He was a member of the presbytery council and college of counselors. In 1993, he was appointed chancellor and pastoral coordinator, and held both positions until 2002 . ^[one]

Montanari's father returned to Rome in 2002 to study for a licensee in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, which he received in 2004 . From 2008 to 2013, he served as an official in the Congregation for Bishops . He was appointed chaplain of His Holiness on May 13, 2011 .

On October 12, 2013, Monsignor Montanari was appointed titular Archbishop of Capochilla and at the same time Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops . ^[2]

On November 7, 2013, Monsignor Montanari was ordained bishop . The order was led by Archbishop Ribeiran-Preto Moasir Silva, who was assisted by co- conscripts Cardinal Odiliu Pedro Scherer - Archbishop of São Paulo and Archbishop of Valmor Oliveira di Azevedo - Archbishop of Belo Horizonte .
