Biography
He was a classmate of President Museveni , at the same time he studied at the University of Dar es Salaam , received a law degree.
He was one of the leaders of the National Salvation Front (FRONAS), which, with the help of the Tanzanian troops, overthrew the Idi Amin regime . In 1980, he became one of the founders of the Uganda Patriotic Movement, which launched a guerrilla war against President Milton Obote , who was later transformed into the ruling party under Museveni - the National Resistance Movement.
- 1986 - appointed to the post of National Political Commissioner,
- 1996-2001 - Foreign Secretary,
- 2001-2003 - Minister of the Interior of Uganda. He was dismissed when he opposed changes to the Constitution, which at that time limited the length of time the president was in power,
- 2003-2006 - Engaged in law practice. In December 2004, he participated in the organization of the Forum for Democratic Change, directed against the Museveni regime,
- Since 2006 - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, leaving the opposition.
