Criticism Reaction

The album is a compilation of songs by Vis Vitalis, written before 2004. Rita Skiter writes on InterMedia that because of this, the album material may seem somewhat secondary. Among the shortcomings of the work, she also singles out the absence on the disc of hits that could immediately demonstrate all the advantages of musicians. Among them, the journalist primarily emphasizes sincerity, arguing that the characteristic of hip-hop dissatisfaction with the surrounding reality looks organically and naturally. However, at the same time, one gets the impression that the themes raised in the songs “War will write everything down”, “I need weapons” are nothing more than a game for a musician. Also, among the advantages of the disc, moments are indicated when the musicians “get cramped” as part of hip-hop and they try to diversify the musical and textual components [1] .

By analogy with Dolphin ’s song “I Will Live,” says a KM online commentator, Vis encourages the listener to go through various life difficulties and trials in order to become stronger. Due to the fact that the project participants sympathize with the Communists, many songs use samples from Soviet songs and fairy tales. The ingenuity of arrangements, weighted guitars, wind jazz parts [2] is noted.

On the website of the newspaper Tomorrow , which, like the musicians at that time, supported the Communist Party, an analysis of the lyrics of the album was published. A good combination of traditional rap recitative and simple folk vocabulary was noted. Particular attention in the analysis was given to the socio-political component of words. According to the journalist of the publication, although the texts are devoid of formal politicism, nevertheless, “they are head and shoulders above the huge number of professional“ leftists ”by the level of their political development. It concludes that the album is the best evidence that rap music at the present stage is the main highway for the development of social-revolutionary musical culture [3] .

The music columnist for Kommersant, Boris Barabanov, writes that despite the external correspondence to the canons of hip-hop, because of the secondary musical form, the lack of fresh solutions in both music and lyrics, musicians can hardly be called rappers. The class struggle, according to the author, has been reduced to absurdity and makes one doubt the sincerity of the musicians, and that "these guys are still ready to go to the end" [4] .
