Biography

Born in Tokyo on October 30, 1953 [1] in the family of a French diplomat and graduate of the National School of Administration (ENA). He received most of his education abroad, in particular in the USSR and Egypt, completed his education in Paris at the Lyceum of Louis Le Grande in 1968, then at the Lyceum of Pasteur in Neuilly-sur-Seine , where in 1970 he received a bachelor 's degree in philosophy . He studied under the supervision of Francois Fedier ( fr. François Fédier ) and Jean Beaufort at the Lyceum of Condorcet . He also worked in films with directors Jean-Pierre Mokey and Philippe Attuel ( fr. Philippe Attuel ). Frohman-Maurice holds a master's degree (diploma of advanced studies, DEA ) and a doctorate from the University of Vincennes (currently the University of Paris VIII ), which he received under the supervision of ( fr. Daniel Charles ). His dissertation was dedicated to the work of John Cage and Martin Heidegger and was defended on October 24, 1979 in Nanterre in the presence of Cage. In 1992, Frohmann-Maurice also received a second doctorate ( fr. Doctorat d'État ) [2] (which is the French equivalent of a doctorate in the USSR) at the University of Nice .

From 1980 to 1983, he worked at the (CNC) for the State Film Commission ( French Commission d'Avances sur Recettes ) and at the (INA) in radio archives. From 1980 to 1989, he also worked as a reviewer at Gallimar Publishing House. In the following years, Froman-Maurice left for the USA, where he worked as a visiting professor at a number of universities. Frohman-Maurice is a member of the . Currently (since 1996) is a professor of French literature and philosophy at Vanderbilt University .

He is in his third marriage. He has three daughters. He lives in the United States, remaining a citizen of France. [3]
