History

The city was founded in 1927 [2] . Since 1976, it has been the administrative center of Benue State.

Geographical position

The city is located in the northern part of the state, on the left (southern) bank of the Benue River. The absolute height is 103 meters above sea ​​level [3] . Makurdi is located about 175 kilometers southeast of Abuja , the country's capital.
