Administrative Division History
In 2005, the Administration of the Bolsheazyazsky village council was renamed the Administration of the Bolsheazyazsky village settlement. [3] [4]
Within its current borders, the settlement was formed on May 20, 2008 [5] , when three rural settlements (Bolsheazyazskoye, Staroallagulovskoye and Mikhailovskoye) were transformed into one municipality - the Bolsheazyazskoye rural settlement with a center in the village of Big Azia. [one]
Geography
Located in the northwestern part of the Kovylkinsk municipal district. In the western and northern parts, the settlement borders on the Torbeevsky, Atyuryevsky and Krasnoslobodsky districts of the Republic of Mordovia. In the eastern, northern and southern parts, the settlement borders on other rural settlements of the Kovylkinsk municipal district. [one]
The land area of the municipality "Bolsheazyazskoe rural settlement is 14038 ha, which is about 7% of the territory of the Kovylkinsk municipal district. [one]

Infrastructure
On the territory of the rural settlement are located [12] :
- 1) two stores (both in the village of Big Azya)
- 2) Post office in the village of Big Azya
- 3) Bolsheazyazsky veterinary clinic
- 4) The Church of D. Salunsky in the village of Big Azia
Agricultural land in the amount of 3000 hectares is being processed by CJSC Mordovian Bacon.
