In 1940, Vysh received the status of an urban-type settlement. Since 2001 - a rural settlement.
Located 4 km from the river. Vysha (name-hydronym), 60 km from the district center and Vysha railway station. In the “List of Populated Places of the Tambov Province” (1866), Vysha is a state village of 54 yards (331 people) in Spassky Uyezd . In 1882, there were 79 yards in the village (528 people). Modern Vysha is a large forestry center of the republic (forestry complex and forestry). In the village there is a secondary school, a library, a post office, shops; monument to V.I. Lenin. The structure of the Vyshinsky rural administration includes the village. Udevo (49 people).
