Aaron Vanandetsi ( Armenian. Ահարոն անանդեցի ) - Armenian writer, historian, author of the "History of the Cross of Nina".
Nothing is known about the biography of Vanandetsi - neither his identity nor his chronology are defined [1] . It was traditionally considered the author of the 9th century [2] [3] , but modern scholars date his work to the first half of the 10th century [4] [5] , or even the 11th century [6] . The only surviving essay of Vanandetsi is the historical work “The History of the Holy Cross of Nina , the leader of the Iberian country” (the artist [str] арм տմ աւթիւութիւն [1] . The History of the Cross of Nina is written on the basis of earlier hagiographic essays about St. Nina , sv. Shushanik , sv. Sahak , as well as on the historical works of Movses Khorenatsi , Agatangelos and other Armenian and Georgian historians [7] [5] [4] [1] .
