History
The tram line was launched on June 3, 1897 . The route ran from the bridge over the Prut to the city station through the central square. Two types of cars went along the line. Biaxial cars ran along the entire length of the line, and four-axle cars ran from the bridge over the Prut to the Central Square. After Romania annexed these territories, the ticket cost 5 lei . However, a system was later introduced according to which the cost of the ticket depended on the length of the trip.
March 20, 1967 Chernivtsi tram ceased to exist.
In 1997, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Chernivtsi tram, a restored 900 series car No. 10 was installed in Gagarin's square, placed on a pedestal.
