The Central Statistical Bureau ( Dutch: Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) ) is a government agency in the Netherlands , which was founded in 1899 and collects statistical information.

The Hague Office
Herlen Bureau Office
It was a department of the Ministry of Economics and is located in The Hague and Herlen . Since January 3, 2004, the bureau has become , a governmental, but state-independent (quasi-autonomous) non-profit organization . The Bureau collects statistical information on:
- economic growth
- consumer prices
- income of individuals and households
- population
- unemployment.
The bureau program is ratified by the Central Commission on Statistics. This independent commission guarantees the impartiality, independence, quality, relevance and business continuity of the bureau in accordance with the Law on the Central Statistical Bureau of 1996.
