History

The village was founded in 1903 by residents of the village of Abdalgülablı ( Azerb. Abdalgülablı ) of the Agdam region of Azerbaijan , who became refugees and left their native places as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. In the beginning, refugees chose the village of Kishmishtepe ( azerb. Kişmiştəpə ) of the Marneuli region of Georgia as their permanent residence, but in 1905 they all moved to Abdullah. A year later, the prosperous part of the population moved again, now to the village of Kyzylkilis ( azerb. Qızılkilsə ) of Dmanisi district . Subsequently, the name of the village was renamed Javshany ( azerb. Cavşanı ), which is still used among the local population. [6]

Change of toponym

According to one version, the toponym of the village came from the name of the nomadic Turkic tribe Abdal, belonging to the White Huns . [6]

In 1990-1991 , as a result of the change by the Georgian leadership of the historical toponyms of ethnic minority settlements in the region, the name of the village of Abdalli (" Azeri. Abdallı ") was changed to its current name - Javshaniani. [7]
