Walter Edward Broda ( English Walter Edward "Turk" Broda , May 15, 1914 , Brandon , Manitoba , Canada - October 17, 1972 ) - Canadian hockey player , goalkeeper . He spent 14 seasons in the National Hockey League , played for the Toronto Maple Leafs team.

Game career
Canadian-born Canadian player Turk Brod was born on May 15, 1914 in Brandon ( Manitoba ). Broad began his hockey career at Brandon Native Sons, a club that played in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In the 1932/33 season, the Sons won the Memorial Cup , a trophy awarded to the winner of the Canadian Hockey League .
In 1935, Turk Broda signed his first professional contract with the Detroit Olympics International Hockey League club. In 1936, the Toronto Maple Leafs coach Conn Smythe, who came to see another goalkeeper, drew attention to the Olympics goalkeeper and decided to purchase it.
In 1941, Broad won his first Vezina Trophy - a prize for the best NHL goalkeeper. And already next year he won his first Stanley Cup . In 1943, Broad was called up to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces . After demobilization in 1945, he returned to the Toronto. Over the next seven years, he won the Stanley Cup four more times and once again the Vezina Trophy. In 1952, Turk Broda ends his hockey career.
In 1967, Turk Brod was inducted into the Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame . On October 17, 1972 , at the age of 58, after suffering a heart attack, Walter Edward Broad died. In 1998, number 60 was included in the list of 100 best players of the National Hockey League of all time according to The Hockey News magazine .
