Biography
Born on December 11, 1918 in the city of Taganrog, Rostov Region . When he was eight years old, the family moved to Ukraine, where his daughter Nadezhda was born, but then returned to Taganrog-
In 1939 he was drafted into the Red Army . He served in the Belarusian military district in the region of Brest.
In the battles of World War II from June 1941. In the winter of 1942 he participated in the laying of the Voybokalo-Lavrovo railway line overlooking Lake Ladoga. The new line became part of the Road of Life, along which goods went to besieged Leningrad. He fought on the Volkhov Front. He participated in battles to lift the blockade.
On February 14, 1944, the senior sergeant Nikolay Illarionovich Cherednichenko was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree. On August 5, 1944 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
On March 16, in battles north-east of Lake Balaton, the artillery platoon Cherednichenko crushed the enemy's resistance knot and destroyed 4 guns. Accurate fire covered a group of self-propelled guns extending into the flank of the 297th Guards Rifle Regiment. After the breakthrough of the defense in the battles of March 18, 21 and 24, the platoon supported the advance of the rifle units, destroyed a heavy tank and many opponents.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for the exemplary performance of the tasks of the command of the guard, Sergeant Major Cherednichenko Nikolai Illarionovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.
In 1948 he was discharged to the reserve. He returned to his homeland. He lived in the city of Taganrog. He died on August 19, 1980.
