Fedotov, Pyotr Ivanovich

Peter Ivanovich Fedotov ( 1922 - 1996 ) - commander of a machine-gun platoon of the 58th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 16th Guards Chernigov Cavalry Division, formed in December 1941 in the city of Ufa as the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division, 7th Guards Cavalry Corps Army of the Central Front, Guard Lieutenant. Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1944 ).

Biography

He was born on February 22, 1922 on the Singinovsky Farm now in the Sholokhov District of the Rostov Region .

In the Red Army since May 1941. In the army since 1943.

He distinguished himself when crossing the Dnieper River . On the night of September 27, 1943, he was one of the first to cross to the right bank near the village of Nivki in the Bragin district of the Gomel region of Belarus.

September 29, 1943 in the battle for the village of Galki went down with a machine gun to the bottom of the trench. An enemy tank passed over him. I dug up a machine gun and opened fire on machine gunners following the tank.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, for the exemplary performance of the combat mission of the command and the courage and heroism of the guard shown, Lieutenant Fedotov Pyotr Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .

Since 1975 in stock. He lived in Moscow. He died on January 21, 1996. He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery .

Memory

  • A memorial plaque in memory of Fedotov was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society on the building of the Bazkovskaya high school, where he studied.
