Biography

She was born on April 7, 1902 in the village of Kiziyar (now Melitopol , Zaporizhia region , Ukraine ) in the family of a railwayman.

She studied at the city gymnasium of Melitopol . At the age of 16 she volunteered for the Red Army . She studied at the Medical Faculty of the KrsU State University named after MV Frunze , then transferred to the agronomical faculty.

Place of employment: in 1926–1930, work at the fruit experimental station at the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after KA Timiryazev , in 1930–1935 - head of the state part of vegetable crops of the All-Union Institute of Plant Industry, in 1935–1944 - researcher, working on Kushnarenkovsky grapes, at the same time she performed the duties of a military meteorologist and cashier of the international Leninist school of the Comintern, located nearby, in 1945-1956 - head. Department of Viticulture Bashkir fruit and berry experimental station, since 1956, Art. Researcher, Department of Horticulture, Bashkir Research Institute of Agriculture .

Research interests: the breeding of new grapes with a short growing season for harsh climatic conditions. Deputy of the Supreme Council of the BASSR, the Supreme Soviet of the 4th convocation (1954-1958), the Council of Nationalities of the USSR.

Husband, Vasily Strelyaev, also a breeder of scientists, more than 30 years led the Bashkir Experimental Station on Gardening.

She died on June 29, 1987 in the village of Kushnarenkovo (now Bashkortostan ).

Memory

In the name of L. N. Strelyaeva, a street and an alley in the village of Kushnarenkovo ​​are named.

Her name is immortalized by a memorial plaque on the building of the laboratory building of the Kushnarenkovsky Selection Center of the Republic of Belarus.

In the Bashkir Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture, a grape variety called “Pamyati Strelyaeva” was bred.
