Biography
The son of a Riga warrior . Born in 1807 in Riga . Received an initial education in the cathedral school in Riga. After graduating from the course at the Riga Gymnasium , in 1824 he entered the University of Dorpat at the Faculty of Law, from which he graduated in 1827 without the right to a rank, as he was not subjected to final tests.
After living for several years at home, preparing for a teaching position, Knirim in 1834 went to Moscow and was determined to be a German teacher in the Moscow Provincial Gymnasium. On October 17, 1836, he was invited to Moscow University to teach German, and from October 8, 1838, he was appointed lecturer.
At the same time, Knirim taught German at the Alexandrinsky Orphan Institute , at the Peter and Paul Church School, and in many private institutions. In 1845, he was dismissed from his post until his recovery, but he died in the spring of the following year. It was noted that his teaching was distinguished by great clarity and ability to adapt to children's concepts.
