Kvemo-Arkevani ( Georgian. ქვემო არქევანი , Azeri. Aşağı Qoşakilsə ) is a village of the Bolnisi municipality , Kvemo-Kartli region of the Republic of Georgia with a 99% Azerbaijani population . [5] Located in the south-eastern part of Georgia, in the historical region of Borchaly .

History
Toponym
In 1990 - 1991 , as a result of the change by the Georgian leadership of the historical toponyms of ethnic minority settlements in the region, the name of the village of Ashagi Goshakilis (" Azeri Aşağı Qoşakilsə ") was changed to its current name - Kvemo-Arkevani. [6]
The name of the village "Ashagi Goshakilis" is translated from Azerbaijani into Russian - as "Lower Double Church". Near the village is also the village of "Yukhary Goshakilis" (" Azeri. Yuxarı Qoşakilsə "), whose name means "Upper Double Church". Previously, these two villages constituted one single village, under the general name "Goshakilis", but as it grew, the village was divided into 2 parts.
Among the locals, the old name of the village is also widespread - Muluhsaly (“ Azeri. Muluxsalı ”). [7]
Geography
The village is located on the right bank of the Khrami River, 23 km from the regional center of Bolnisi , at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. [7]
It borders with the villages of Hataveti , Zemo-Arkevani , Hidiskuri , Mukhran , Savaneti , Nahiduri , Tsurtavi , Parisi , Talaveri , Mamkhuti and Kianeti of the Bolnisi Municipality , as well as Alavari , Akhali-Doknisi and Tamarisi of the Marneuli Municipality . [8]
Population
According to the State Statistical Committee of Georgia, according to the official census of 2002 , the population of the village of Kvemo-Arkevani is 1,053 people and consists of 99% of Azerbaijanis . [9]
Economics
The population is mainly engaged in sheep farming , cattle breeding and vegetable growing . There is a drinking water source in the village. [10]
