Biography

Robert Roth was a famous Swiss wrestler who competed in national wrestling competitions Schwingen . He was the Swiss Schweening Champion of 1919 and 1921, and, together with his brothers Fritz and Hans (both participants in the 1924 Summer Olympics ), dominated wrestlers in Switzerland for several years.

At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, he fought in the weight category of over 82.5 kilograms (heavy weight). The fight was held according to the rules of Catch As Catch Can , reminiscent of the rules of modern freestyle wrestling. The fight according to the tournament regulations lasted 10 minutes, the final bouts three rounds of 10 minutes. The tournament was held according to the system with elimination after the defeat; winners in all fights fought in the final, losers in the semifinals fought for third place. 8 athletes fought in the category [1]
