Geography

The microdistrict is located three kilometers from the center of Donskoy. Within the boundaries of the microdistrict, the Bobrik River flows around the Bobrik-Gora and flows into the Don .

History

The year 1571 dates to the first mention of Bobrik Gor in the Scribe Book, but then its name was Khodyrev Pochinik. Around the same time, Prince Miloslavsky became the owner of this land. From that moment, the construction of the first wooden church in his possessions began.

Toward the end of the 16th century, the settlement grew into a village with the name Spassky Bobriki.

After a century and a half, in the 1710s, Peter the Great began construction on the upper reaches of the Don of the Ivanovo Channel (Epifansky Sluices), unprecedented in scale at that time, stretching over 225 km, which was supposed to connect the Don and the Volga via Ivan Lake. The canal was built by serfs from all over Russia and prisoners of war by the Swedes.

At the end of 1720, 33 locks were built on the canal, but due to the fact that Russia gained access to the Baltic Sea as a result of the victory in the Northern War, the Ivanovo Canal was no longer needed, so construction stopped and workers were sent to their villages.

After the adoption of the title of Empress in 1762, Catherine II became the owner of the territories on Tula land, having bought them in 1763 from Count Ladyzhensky for her illegitimate son from Count G. Orlov - Alexei Bobrinsky , who later inherited them from her mother.

The architect Starov was engaged in the design of the acquired estates of the Empress. First of all, instead of a wooden church, a stone one was built, which differs in architecture from traditional Orthodox churches. In 1778, at the end of construction, the temple was consecrated and held its first service.

May 24, 1773 in the Bobrinsky estate began the construction of the future palace. Not only Moscow, but also Tula masters took part in it. The head of construction was the architect J.L. Ananin. In 1779, the construction of the palace was completed, and its decoration was distinguished by its luxury and huge size, which was a curiosity in such volosts for those times.

But in 1813, Alexei Grigorievich Bobrinsky died. And when the question arose of his burial, the decision was made to build a family tomb in the classicist style in the park, which was located near the palace. The then-famous architect Vasily Milinsky took up construction work. In 1815, the construction of the tomb was completed and the ashes of Count Bobrinsky were interred with all the inherent honors. Later, the heirs of the count found eternal peace in this tomb.

In the 1840s, the palace was dismantled by Vasily Bobrinsky, retaining only two outbuildings that we can see on the territory of the historical and museum complex to this day. From these materials he built sugar and distilleries, which brought a considerable profit for those times.

Discovered in the 1880s deposits of brown coal in these places, opened a new page in the history of not only the Bobrik Gora, but also the city of Donskoy as a whole as a mining site. Coal mining has been conducted here since 1882. Interestingly, each new mine was illuminated before starting work.

In the fall of 1921, the Bolsheviks ransacked the estate of Counts Bobrinsky. The remains were dug up and thrown into one grave. In the tomb itself, a summer cafe began to work. 10 years later, with the support of the Central Council of the Union of Militant Atheists , the temple was destroyed.

In 1991, after the Savior Church was transferred back to the Russian Orthodox Church, the church was partially restored and held its first service, and Archimandrite Serapion became its rector.

Social Sphere

Within the village are located and operate: a city hospital, 2 kindergartens, an orphanage, 2 vocational schools.

Attractions

On Bobrik Gora is located the historical and memorial museum complex “Bobriki” , which includes: the tomb of Counts Bobrinsky, the manor park, Spasskaya Church. In addition, the Bobrikovskoye lesnichestvo (formerly the Bobrikovskaya forest dacha, founded in 1876), as well as the ramparts and locks of the Ivanovo Canal , were preserved in the village.
