Biography
In the academic year 1957/1958, as an assistant professor , she served as the head of the department of oral folk art at the philological faculty of Moscow State University .
From 1960 to 1980 she worked at the Institute of Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . For more than 50 years of intensive scientific activity, E.V. Pomerantseva has published about 300 books, articles and reviews.
Scientific Activities
E.V. Pomerantseva began her folklore collecting activities in the mid-1920s and did not interrupt her until the end of the 1970s. Over the entire long period of her collecting activities as a researcher combined with the analysis of classical and modern folklore.
E.V. Pomerantseva entered Russian and European science as a prominent representative of the folklore school of the brothers Yuri and Boris Sokolov, who played an important role in the formation and development of Soviet folklore studies of the 1920s and 1930s. For a long time she taught a course of Russian folklore at Moscow universities and at the same time led the expeditionary activities to collect and study it.
