Biography
Born on February 17, 1907 in the village of Starokorsunskaya, Dinsky District, Krasnodar Territory . He worked at Kolkhidstroi in the city of Poti, Georgia.
In the Red Army from 1929 to 1931 and from 1942. In the battles of World War II from September 1942. He participated in defensive battles in the Mozdok-Malgobek direction, the expulsion of the enemy from the North Caucasus, the liberation of the Kuban, the liberation of the Taman Peninsula, in the Zhytomyr-Berdychiv, Proskurov-Chernivtsi and Lviv-Sandomir operations. The war ended in the Prague offensive operation. Particularly distinguished during the battles in Poland and Czechoslovakia.
On October 16, 1944, for courage shown in battles with the enemy, Sergeant Kovalev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree. On February 5, 1945, the foreman Kovalev was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
January 19, 1945 from a cannon direct fire hit an assault gun of the enemy, crushed three machine-gun points. March 12, 1945 fire from an open position destroyed two enemy machine guns with the calculations, inflicted great damage to the enemy in manpower and military equipment. Thanks to the fire support of the foreman Kovalyov’s guns, the rifle units took up enemy positions in a short time.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Sergeant Fedov Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree for courage, bravery and heroism.
In 1945, demobilized. He lived in the city of Poti. He died in 1969.
