Video clip
The premiere of the music video took place on YouTube on June 6, 2013. The video scored over 500 million views [2] .
In the video, a young man appears before the audience, who is trying to “revive” his father, who is not moving and “non-existent”. The boy’s father appears as a lifeless mannequin who is physically, but not emotionally and spiritually present. At this time, other fathers and children play and dance together outside the home. Seeing this, the boy reproaches the father with the words of the song about how the parent should raise his son. In the end, the son, without waiting for the attention of his father (in the role of Stromae), sits down next to him on the sofa, adopting the same lifeless pose.
The creation of the song and the video was influenced by the murder of the artist’s father, who was the victim of the 1994 Rwandan genocide [3] when Paul was still a child.
