Biography

Ivan Krutikov was born on November 6, 1914 in the village of Zabereznik (now - the Oryol district of the Kirov region ). He graduated from seven classes of the school, after which he worked as a turner at an engineering plant in Kirov . In 1936 - 1938 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In October 1941, Krutikov was again drafted into the army. In 1942 he graduated from the Leningrad machine gun and rifle school. Since April of that year - on the fronts of World War II. He participated in the Battle of Kursk , was shell-shocked [1] .

By April 1945, the senior lieutenant Ivan Krutikov commanded a fire platoon of the 8th Guards Separate Anti-Tank Fighter Division of the 12th Guards Rifle Division of the 61st Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the battles in Germany . On April 17, 1945, Krutikov’s platoon was one of the first to cross the Oder in the vicinity of the Neuglitzen settlement 13 kilometers north of Vritsen and took an active part in the battles for capturing and holding the bridgehead on its western shore. At the critical moment of the battle, the Krutiks, repelling the enemy attack, destroyed seven German soldiers with automatic fire. In those battles, a platoon of Krutikov destroyed 2 observation posts, 3 artillery pieces, several bunkers, and about 150 enemy soldiers and officers. Krutikov was wounded twice, but continued to fight [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 31, 1945, for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the fight against the German invaders” of the guard, senior lieutenant Ivan Krutikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6860 [1] .

In 1946, Krutikov was sacked. He lived in Kirov, worked in the regional department of Rosglavvtorchermet. He died on October 14, 1995, was buried in Kirov [1] .
