The 34th César Awards (also known as Cesar's Night ( French: Nuit des César )) for services in the field of French cinema for 2008 took place on February 27, 2009 at the Chatelet Theater ( Paris , France ). Nominees were announced on January 23, 2009 [1] . The president of the ceremony was actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg [2] [3] .

Martin Provo ’s biographical drama “ Serafina iz Sanlisa ” has collected seven awards (out of 9 nominations), including prizes for the best film of the year, the best original screenplay and best female role ( Yolanda Moreau ). Dilogy “Merin” (“ Enemy of the State No. 1 ” and “ Enemy of the State No. 1: Legend ”) directed by Jean-Francois Richet , telling the story of the famous French gangster Jacques Merin , nominated for an award in ten categories, was awarded three awards: for best directing , best sound and best male role ( Vincent Cassel ).
