Technological determinism

Technological determinism is a theoretical and methodological setting in philosophical and sociological concepts and studies to reduce the understanding of social development to the progress of technology, which determines the way it affects the being, thinking and language of its carriers. It arose in the 1920s in connection with the rapid successes in the development of science and technology, the increasing efficiency of their mass application in the development of production.

Adherents of technological determinism believe that the main determinant of socio-economic and other changes in society are more or less major shifts in technology and the production system. The word "technology" means "not so much machines and tools, but rather the corresponding ideas about the world that guide our perception of everything that exists" (J. P. Grant). [1] .

Technological determinism operates mainly with what is given to the ordinary consciousness, thereby meeting the conviction of many people that they correctly understand their life "as it is."
