Dolichoderus inferus (lat.) - a species of ants of the genus Dolichoderus from the subfamily Dolichoderinae ( Formicidae ). Australia (New South Wales, Victoria). Length about 5 mm, color mostly black, legs brown. Pronotum rounded without spines, propodeum with long spines directed back and up ( scabridus group). Head index (CI, head-to-length ratio × 100): 92–97. The length of the head of the workers is 1.44-1.54 mm, the length of the scape is 1.38-1.46 mm, the width of the head is 1.33-1.42 mm. Scapus index (SI, ratio of scapus length to head length × 100): 100-105. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of one segment of the petiolus . Dolichoderus inferus is similar to the species Dolichoderus ypsilon , Dolichoderus rufotibialis, and Dolichoderus niger , differing from them in a dorsal-looking petiolus nodule. The species was first described in 2013 by Australian worldmecologists Steven Shattak and Sharon Marzden (Shattuck Steven O. & Sharon Marsden; CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences, Canberra , Australia ) [1] .
