It starts near the village of Chernilovo Mstislavsky district. Then it flows in a general direction to the north-east past the villages of Starye Selo, Desnokita, Bankovschina and flows into the Whirlwind one and a half southeast of the latter.
The Sverdol , Goryanka and several nameless streams flow into the Black River [2] . Goryanka and streams flowing into it are canalized. But Goryanka itself is longer than Black before it flows into Goryanka.
On the map of Schubert at the end of the 19th century, Black is called Shatalovka and is counted from the source of modern Goryanka.
On the plans of the general land surveying of the end of the 18th century, the Sverdul creek is called Rzhavets , and Goryanka is called the Desnokitka . To the west of Desnokitki (Goryanka), the now defunct village of Goryany is designated, by whose name the river received its later name.
