Biography

Tomas was 5-6 years old when his parents moved from Slovakia to neighboring Austria “for a better life” in the early 90s. At one time, his father Boris played for the famous Slovan club from Bratislava and the Czechoslovak youth team. Mother was a nurse. They all kept their Slovak passports and later returned to their homeland. Only Tomasz received the Austrian passport and this was connected with football. His first coach was, of course, his father [1] .

Club career

Young Tomas played in a number of children's and youth clubs in the Austrian capital, including the Vienna school Rapida . His first club was the amateur team of Austria , for which he played from 2005 to January 2008. Then he played for six months in the Schwanenstadt club, and since the summer of 2008 he joined the Wiener Neustadt , with whom, as captain, he won the First League of Austria in the 2008/2009 season and entered the Austrian Bundesliga.

In January 2012 he returned to the Vienna Austria, but already to the main team. And in the season 2012/2013, “ Austria ” became the champion of the country . But in the Austrian Cup final on May 30, Tomas broke his leg in the 90th minute of the match, and the Cup also lost to Pasching (0-1). Therefore, the end of the year he practically disappeared and they no longer counted on him.

In January 2014, Tomash left the composition of his native club and signed a contract with Kostanai “ Tobol ” from Kazakhstan [2] . On March 15, he made his debut at the club, coming on as a substitute in the match against Semipalatinsk Spartak . On April 9, Shimkovich scored his first goal for the team, equalizing the score in the game with Kaisar [3] . In the future, Shimkovich became a stable player of the basic structure. At the beginning of the 2017 season, an experienced football player became the team captain [4] .

But after three successful seasons in Tobol , Shimkovich began to receive less playing time (only 6 games in the spring due to an injury - he broke his ligaments in the knee) and in June 2017 he agreed to go to Aktobe , where the famous team was returned to revive in Kazakhstan, coach Vladimir Mukhanov [5] . The contract was concluded until the end of 2018. But already in the second game he received a rare injury - a broken arm [6] . Then he managed to recover and spent 14 games before the end of the season, scored 5 goals and made 3 assists. And the team led by Captain Tomas stayed in the Premier League .

However, Shimkovich did not stay in the club and on February 4, 2018 announced his retirement [7] . On the same day, he signed a contract with the Lithuanian Zalgiris [8] .

Team Career

Tomasz Shimkovich played for the Austrian youth national football team (under 21 years old) . He took part in the 2007 successful World Cup among youth teams in 2007 , where the Austrian team reached the 1/2 finals and lost in the match for 3rd place.
