Biography

Born in Kiev on January 17 ( 29 ), 1844 in the family of mathematician Alexander Nikitich Tikhomandritsky . In 1861 he entered the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of St. Petersburg University , where he graduated with a gold medal for his work on parabolic interpolation.

After completing the course at the university, he began to prepare for the master's exam. July 1, 1867 entered the service as a teacher in the 2nd St. Petersburg gymnasium. In the same university in 1876, having defended his thesis “On Hypergeometric Rows”, he received a master’s degree and since 1879, as a private assistant professor, he taught the theory of elliptic functions and descriptive geometry.

In 1878 he retired from the gymnasium, and then was reckoned with the Ministry of Education. In 1880 - 81 years, he taught mathematics at higher courses. In 1883 he was elected associate professor of Kharkov University, and in 1885 he defended there the dissertation "Inversion of hyperelliptic integrals" and received a doctorate in pure mathematics. In 1888, Mr .. approved as an ordinary professor. He was dismissed, according to the petition, for the length of service in 1899. He died on January 17, 1921 in Petrograd.
