Biography
Educated at the 6th St. Petersburg Gymnasium (1879, gold medal) [1] and at the historical and philological faculty of St. Petersburg University . After completing the course, he was left at the university to prepare for a professorship.
In 1892 he was awarded the master's degree in Russian history for "The Writing of Giles Fletcher as a Historical Source." From the same year, he lectured at St. Petersburg University. He was a professor of Russian history at the Imperial Institute of History and Philology ; taught historical geography at the St. Petersburg Archaeological Institute .
