Story

Peter returns home with a foul smell. The whole family is going crazy with the smell of Peter. Lois leads Peter to the dentist , it turns out that Peter had a shrimp in his mouth, because of which there was such a terrible bad breath. The whole family decides to go to a local restaurant and celebrate Peter's trip to the doctor. Stewie draws on a stand for dishes, but the waiter says that the map that is drawn on the stand is actually a real treasure map of a certain Milli "Chatterbox" Musket, who buried his treasure somewhere in Quahog. Peter, believing in this story, decides to immediately go in search of treasure. He is not even stopped by the fact that Lois makes every effort to explain to Peter that all this is just a fairy tale.

Nevertheless, Peter comes to the “Drunk Oyster”, trying to call Glenn and Joe in search of treasure, but they also consider Peter to be just crazy. Peter, without losing hope, decides to dig up the treasure himself. Late in the evening, Lois arrives for him, who sees that Peter has rummaged a lot, but has not found anything. Already almost desperate, Peter and Lois find a chest containing a clue:

“Stand in a square, look at the circle,
And you will see me suddenly. ”

Peter brings a hint home. Brian is trying to understand what the words in the riddle mean. At this time, on television, a news report was shown in which Peter gave an interview to correspondents, showing everyone a hint from the chest. Brian is angry with Peter for the fact that now the whole city will hunt for a treasure. Quagmire and Joe run into the house, who want to pick up the card, but Peter reminds them of the case at the bar and drives both of them out of the house. Brian suggests that the “circle in the park” may be a reference to the Quahog chapel. Arriving in the square, Family Guy see how the whole Quahog gathered at the clock. Brian notices that people also crowded around the statue of Millie the “Chatterbox” of the Muskete, on the statue of Griffins they find an inscription that Millie dedicated this statue to his dead son Timmy. Meg recalls what they studied at Timmy Musket's school; he is buried on Block Island. The family is divided into three groups: Peter and Lois, Meg and Chris , Brian and Stewie - no one wants to share the treasure.

The whole Quahog somehow finds out about the whereabouts of Timmy, everyone goes there. Arriving last, Peter and Lois realize that no one wants to give up. In a fit of anger, Peter even hits Chris. Lois tells Peter that he is completely crazy, she leaves home with Meg and Chris. Having dug up Timmy’s grave, on the coffin lid everyone finds the following clue, on which words are written in very obscure handwriting. Peter at first interprets these words as the key to action on the local baseball field, however, upon arriving there, Peter realizes that Lois was right: all the inhabitants of Quahog are fighting for the right to unearth the treasure first.

Grieving, Peter returns home and apologizes to his family. But when Lois learns the words from the cover of Timmy’s coffin, everyone understands that Peter misinterpreted the words and that the treasure must be sought in the Drunken Oyster bar. Having immediately rushed there, Lois and Peter shoot a picture from the wall, which depicts Millie "Chatterbox" Musket himself. It turns out that the treasure is a coupon for going to a restaurant, which expired in 2006 . Arriving home, Peter says that Lois is his treasure.

Criticism

Experts from the AV Club gave the episode a rating of C, explaining it this way: “Toward the end of The Treasure Seekers, the inserts have exhausted themselves. “Family Guy” has created a new type of jokes that aren’t referenced. ” Nevertheless, critics from the AV Club praised the series for some moments, especially for Peter, who was promoting the Suzuki Samurai. “Unfortunately, there were no terrific inserts in order to dispel a rather dull storyline (...) inserts in“ Family Guy ”are a choice like“ all or nothing “. The best episodes are those that have a crazy, more or less continuous plot, or series showing the relationship of the characters (usually Brian and Stewie). The episode "Treasure Seekers" is stuck somewhere in the middle, where he receives only the worst from both sides. ” [2]
