Biography

Daniil Pavlovich was born on December 21, 1900 in the village of Yakhniki of the Lokhvitsky district of the Poltava province . Father, Shinguiry Pavel Romanovich, peasant - farm laborer . Mother, Serdyuk Elena Petrovna, hereditary Cossack. The family gave birth to 19 children, of which only 8 survived. In 1910, the whole family moved to the Popasnaya station (now a city in the Luhansk region) of the Donetsk (Catherine) railway in search of constant income. My father got a job as a trailer for the railway. Mother worked in a school cafeteria. In 1916, Daniil graduated from a two-year railway school and got a job at a glass factory, and a few months later he moved to railway workshops.

Civil War

On March 16 , 1918, Daniil Shingiriy joined the 1st Popasnyansky Red Guard detachment. Subsequently, the Red Guards joined the 4th Partisan Division . D.P. Shinguiry distinguished himself in the battle on the outskirts of Debaltseve , raising the soldiers to attack the enemy fortifications. In 1919, after another bloody battle, where he showed an example of courage and fearlessness, he was awarded a party ticket . In the ranks of the First Horse Army, he fought on many fronts of the Civil War .

The interwar period

After the end of the civil war, D. Shinguiry entered the 15th Regiment of the Regular Red Army and became a regular military man. In 1921 he was sent to study in Moscow at the All-Russian Central Executive Committee Military School , after which in 1925 he was appointed to the post of course commander in the Krasnodar Cavalry School. For fulfilling an important government task, he was awarded a personalized blade with a dedicatory inscription of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR . After studying in advanced training courses for command personnel , D.P. Shinguiry was appointed to teach at the Tambov Red Banner Cavalry School. In a short time, he managed to bring the lagging squadron to the forefront.

 
Participation in equestrian competitions in Moscow

In 1934, Daniil Pavlovich received an invitation to take part in equestrian competitions in Moscow. He took several first places in various types of competitions and was awarded the nominal clock by the People's Commissar of Defense K.E. Voroshilov . Subsequently, Shinguir served in Mongolia , taught at the Penza Cavalry School, was the commander of a cavalry regiment in the Caucasus .

World War II

At the beginning of the war, D.P. Shinguiri was appointed commander of a cavalry regiment, designed to operate behind enemy lines. He fought on the 1st Ukrainian front . July 1, 1941 his regiment entered the battle with the Nazis, and a few days later the commander was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield. On September 3, 1941, in the Baranavichy district, Daniil Pavlovich was seriously wounded in the thigh. He spent more than 2 years in hospitals. Doctors insisted on leg amputation, but the famous surgeon Professor N. A. Bogoraz saved his leg and helped him return to duty. In June 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Shinguiri was appointed to the post of commander of the 21st Guards Cavalry Regiment. For the heroism shown during the crossing of the San River and the seizure of the city of Przemysl , the guard, Lieutenant Colonel Shinguiry D.P. was awarded the Order of the Red Banner .

Feat

Guard Lieutenant Colonel D.P. Shinguiry distinguished himself during the Vistula-Oder operation . In January 1945, the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front went on the offensive on the Sandomierz bridgehead . The 21st Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 7th Guards Cavalry Division , commanded by guards, Lieutenant Colonel D.P. Shingiriy, was moving in the forefront of the compound. During the day, the unit marched 30 kilometers with battles, knocked out the enemy of their eleven settlements, captured a railway station, military warehouse, and a large amount of equipment. On January 20, the regiment, in cooperation with a tank landing, fought in Germany. In the afternoon, the soldiers captured the settlement of Stahlamer, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, destroying up to 200 soldiers and officers, freeing about 1,500 prisoners of war. Continuing to carry out the assigned task, the regiment swiftly seized the settlement of Andreashutte and the railway station, capturing large trophies, as well as a plant with working equipment.

On January 22, D.P. Shingiriy was appointed deputy division commander and received a combat order: to force the Klodnitsa River - a tributary of the Oder and by the end of the next day go to the area of ​​the city of Neubrucken. The Nazis attached great importance to the defensive line on Klodnitsa. Here they long expected to detain the Soviet troops. On the eve of the guard’s battle, the lieutenant colonel wrote to his relatives: “I believe that the day is not far off when we will raise the Victory Banner over Berlin.” The regiment, following in the advance detachment of the division, overtook the enemy’s tank assault and burst into the city of Welsen. Having put the soldiers on the tanks, Shinguiry, being in the head vehicle, led them on the offensive. His high skill and courage gave strength to the guards. But suddenly they ran into an ambush of the Nazis, who, through a breach in the wall of the landlord's estate, almost point-blank began to shoot our tanks. Daniil Pavlovich led his tank directly at the enemy, thereby covering the rest of the soldiers who were able to break through the ambush and destroy the enemy. D.P. Shingiriy was mortally wounded and the next day he died in the arms of soldiers. He was buried in Lviv on the Hill of Glory .

Rewards

  • By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for the exemplary command of the regiment during the Wisla Oder operation and the personal courage and heroism of the guard shown, Lieutenant Colonel D.P. Shinguiry was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
  • He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner ( 1944 ) and the medal "XX Years of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army" ( 1938 ).

Memory

  • Immortalized in a memorial complex on the Hill of Glory in Lviv .
  • A street in the city of Popasnaya is named after D.P. Shingiriya.
