Biography
Lilia Nazmutdinova was born on June 13, 1936 in Sverdlovsk . In 1947, she began to engage in rhythmic gymnastics at the Palace of Pioneers.
In 1955 she became a master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics - the first in the USSR.
Lilia Nazmutdinova - four-time absolute champion of the USSR, won the first gold medal in 1952 at the USSR championship in Tallinn. In the same year she won silver at the national championship in Leningrad. In 1953, she became the champion of the RSFSR, in 1954, the champion of the RSFSR and the USSR.
For more than 10 years she was captain of the USSR national rhythmic gymnastics team.
In 1965, Lilia Nazmutdinova first got to the World Cup and won the bronze in exercises with objects.
After completing her sports career due to a serious injury, Lilia Nazmutdinova continued her coaching work (until 1999); among her pupils are her younger sister, the 1971 world champion Alfiya Nazmutdinova and the bronze medalist of the 1996 Olympics, Julia Ivanova .
