Weinek Crater ( lat. Weinek ) is a small impact crater in the southeastern part of the visible side of the Moon , located in the south of the Nectar Sea . The name was given in honor of the Austro-Hungarian astronomer Ladislav Vejnek (1848-1913) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935. The formation of the crater belongs to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The immediate neighbors of the crater are the Cracastoro Crater in the northwest; Santbek Crater in the northeast, Neander Crater in the southeast and Piccolomini Crater in the southeast [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 32 km [4] , depth 3.37 km [5] .
The crater has a circular shape, the crater shaft is moderately destroyed, the north part of the shaft is blocked by three small craters. The inner slope of the crater is flat, in the southeastern part it is blocked by several small craters. The height of the crater shaft above the surrounding area is 940 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 710 km³ [1] . There is no central peak. The bottom of the crater bowl is flat and even, in the center of the bowl is a small crater.
