Arno Guillaume de Barbazan ( Ox. Arnault Guilhem , English Arnaud Guillaume de Barbazan ; 1360 , Barbazan Desuux - 1431 , Bulneuville ) - French knight, adviser and first chamberlain of Dauphin Charles, future King Charles VII ; the captain of the Hundred Years War , a native of a noble family in the French countryside of Bigorre .

It was a rare type of true knight with all its noble qualities. Even among enemies, he earned his respect and gained the nickname of “ knight without reproach ” ( fr. Chevalier sans reproche ) [2] .
Biography
Served successively to the Duke of Orleans , brother of Charles VI, the Duke of Berry and the Dauphin Louis and Karl . The victories that he won over the British, made his name soon known throughout France [2] .
The first time Barbazan became famous in 1402, when at the head of 7 French knights he accepted the challenge of a duel of 7 English knights and defeated them in a memorable battle ( fr ) at Montandre ( fr ) castle in Sentong (May 19, 1402) [2] .
In 1420, he defended the city of Melun from the troops of Henry V of England , after his fall he was captured and held until 1430 in the Chateau-Gaillard fortress, when La Gere finally freed him. Having received freedom, Barbazan continued the struggle with the British and finally in 1431, at the Battle of Bulneuville ( fr ), he was seriously wounded and died. Charles VII ordered his remains to be transferred to Saint-Denis , where they were buried with great honors.
