Story
Shirley ( Loretta Devine ), along with Aunt Bem (Cassandra Davis) goes to Dr. Wilson to find out about the deterioration of his health. Shirley asks her aunt to call the children and report it. Cora and Mr. Brown are in the hospital, where the doctor says that it is necessary to conduct a study to Mr. Brown. The children of Shirley Byron (Bow Wow), Kimberly ( Shannon Kane ) and Tammy (Natalie Dessell) arrive for dinner: Byron with the girl Renee ( Lauren London ) and their child, Byron Jr.; Tammy with her husband Harold (Rodney Perry) and their two children; and Kimberly with her husband Kelvin (Aizaya Mustafa). The situation is complicated by the fact that each of the guests begins to sort things out and argue, because of which Shirley still does not manage to talk about her illness.
She wants to rectify the situation and asks Madeya for help in order to gather the guests again. Madeya goes to each of them and urges him to come to the dinner party. At this time, Mr. Brown (David Mann) is undergoing surgery and he is losing a lot of blood. The doctor asks Cora to donate blood to help him. But when it turns out that they have different groups, Cora wonders how Mr. Brown could be her father.
Dinner still passes, but, as before, everyone is preoccupied with their own problems. Shirley's condition worsens, she is taken to the hospital, where Byron, Tammy, Harold and Calvin come. She informs them of her illness and says that she loves them. She also calls Kimberly. After the funeral, Shirley Madeya confronts family members and says good words about Shirley, in particular that she did not want others to swear [2] [2] .
Madeya takes on the role of pacifier and begins to give advice to each of the relatives. She says that we need to seek understanding and forgive each other, not to use children as a means of clarifying relationships, as well as the need to engage in drugs. The film ends with Madeya, Mr. Brown and Cora coming to the talk show The Maury Povich Show to find out if he is Cora's father. Madeya assures that this is so, however, the provided analysis of the examination suggests the opposite. Behind the scenes, Madeya is very upset and crying, she does not understand how this can be, and suggests at this stage, Mr. Brown is still considered the father of Cora.
