Edith von Vogtlander ( German: Edith von Voigtländer ; June 8, 1892 , Weimar - July 4, 1978 , Riemerling , now part of Hohenbrunn ) - German violinist , teacher .

She studied at the Stern Conservatory under Isaiah Barmas . At the age of 13 she made her debut as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra . In 1909 , she was awarded the Gold Medal of Art and Science of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha . Throughout the 1910s and 20s. She performed a lot in the Ella Jonas-Stockhausen piano trio [1] . During the Second World War, went on tour to occupied France [2] . In 1940 she was awarded the Munich Music Prize.
After World War II, since 1946 , professor at the Munich Higher School of Music and Theater . In 1961 she was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit .
The Vogtlender’s repertoire was based on the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Ludwig van Beethoven , and Hans Pfitzner .
