Atlantis is a British fantasy adventure television series filmed by Urban Myth Films with BBC America for BBC Wales. Created based on ancient Greek mythology by producers Howard Overman (“ Bad ”, “Bullies” ), Johnny Capps (“ Merlin ”, Sweet feelings ) and Julian Murphy (“ Merlin ”, Sweet feelings ). The series premiered on BBC One on September 28, 2013 in the UK. The series was also broadcast on the Space channel in Canada on October 12, 2013 and on the BBC America channel in the United States on November 23, 2013 [1] .

The TV show received mixed reviews from critics [2] .
On January 23, 2015, it was announced that the show was closed. [3] The remaining seven episodes started on April 11, 2015, and on May 16, 2015, the two-hour series finale was released.

Synopsis
The city of Atlantis is an unusual ancient settlement; the world of galloping bulls, goddesses with snakes instead of hair and palaces so huge that they say they were built by giants. The epic adventure begins when young Jason arrives in the city.

Production
The series was first announced on February 11, 2013. It was created to fill the time gap that appeared due to the closure of the television series " Merlin ", created and produced by Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy [4] . The trio will produce Atlantis through its new company, Urban Myth Films. Executive Producer for BBC Wales - Bethan Jones. The series was commissioned by BBC Drama head Ben Stevenson and BBC One head Danny Cohen. [5] The cast was announced on March 27, 2013.
The series is filmed in Wales and Morocco . A warehouse of 14,400 m² near Chepstow was turned into an extensive television studio for the filming of Atlantis [6] . Filming of the first season began on April 1 and ended on November 2, 2013.
July 22, 2013 BBC America announced that the channel is a co-producer of Atlantis and the series will be broadcast in the fall of 2013 as part of "supernatural Saturday" [7] .
The series was advertised using a viral marketing campaign, official accounts on Twitter , Tumblr and Facebook [8] . The first poster [9] was presented on August 9, 2013, and the first teaser trailer for the series [10] on August 16. A week later, on August 23, the second teaser was shown, where Jason appeared in the performance of Jack Donnelly [11] . On August 29, four teasers were released featuring Jack Donnelly, Juliet Stevenson, Mark Eddy and Robert Emms. [12] The first promotions of the cast were presented on September 7 [13] , and on the same day before the Strictly Come Dancing show, the first trailer was shown on BBC One . A week before the premiere, the first excerpt from the first series was released.
On October 26, 2013, the series was extended for the second season, which started on November 15, 2014 [14] [15] .
