Professional career
In December 2000 he made his debut in the professional ring. He spent 14 victorious matches in a row, and lost by knockout to Nkubele Guazela, in the battle for the title of champion of South Africa.
In 2006, Mtalane won the title of champion of South Africa.
November 1, 2008 went to the championship fight with the Filipino, Nonito Donaire . Moruti Mtalane lost by knockout in the 6th round. Then Donaire moved to a higher weight category, and released the title.
In 2009, in the fight for the vacant IBF title, Moruti defeated the Mexican, Jose Cesar Miranda.
In 2010, he defended the title by knockout and defeated the South African, Zolani Tete .
In 2011, he defended the title by knockout in a fight with Filipino Joniel Casimero .
