Biography
The son of a priest, brother of the famous Russian physiologist Pavlov Ivan Petrovich . Born in 1851 in Ryazan. He was brought up in the Ryazan Theological College and Seminary. In 1876 he graduated from the course at the St. Petersburg University in the department of natural sciences. After which he was left at the university to improve his knowledge of chemistry.
In 1877, he was appointed laboratory assistant at a chemical laboratory at the same university. In October 1886 he was appointed assistant professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Novo-Aleksandrovsky Institute . Since 1893 he was an associate professor at the same institute.
His works are published in the Journal of the Russian Physicochemical Society: “On dimethyl isobutyl carbinol and the new heptylene obtained from it” (1874); “On ethyl isopropyl ketone” (1876); “On the effect of acid chlorides on organozinc compounds”; "On tetramethylene and its derivatives" (1878); "On the chemical structure of the pinacon"; “On the reaction of acid chlorides with organozinc compounds” (1891, together with A. Grigorovich).
