Biography
Samantha Lewthwaite was born into the family of Andrew and Elizabeth Lewthwaites. Samantha's father was a British military stationed in Northern Ireland, where he met her mother. In 1994, Lewthwaite's parents split up, and, according to her friends, Lewwaite, traumatized by this event, came under the influence of her Muslim neighbors, whose family relationships she considered to be stronger. At the age of 17, Samantha Lutwait converted to Islam , taking, according to The Scotsman and The Evening Standard, the Muslim name Sherafiya. Soon she married with Jermaine Lindzi, but the marriage was not officially registered anywhere.
In 2005, Lindzi blew himself up in a subway train, killing 26 people. Lutewait denied involvement in the attack and claimed that she knew nothing of her husband's intentions.
In 2013, according to The Daily Telegraph, Lutwight married Habib Saleh Ghani, an ethnic Pakistani and a member of the radical Somali terrorist group Al-Shabab . Later, the newspaper attributed to her relations with Hassan Maalim Ibrahim, one of the commanders of Al-Shabab. Information about the whereabouts of Lutwight and her three children at that time, appeared in the media, was extremely contradictory. Among other places called Tanzania and Somalia. Lewthwright was suspected of participating in an attack on a shopping center in Nairobi . An order was issued by Interpol for her immediate arrest, and US law enforcement agencies announced a reward of $ 5 million for helping to detain her.
On November 12, 2014, the Russian news agency Regnum published [2] information that a sniper of the Aidar battalion Lutwight was killed by a militia sniper arriving from Russia during an armed conflict in the Donbass [3] . Later, a scan of a South African passport in the name of Natalie Webb with a photo of Lewthwaite was presented as evidence, which, according to the author of the original article, Alexei Toporov, a sniper found among the things killed [4] [5] . The name of the source of information was not named. The British government said that it does not have data confirming the presence of Lewthwaite in Ukraine. Information was also published that the Ukrainian authorities announced a reward of one million dollars for the capture of the sniper who killed Lutwight [6] [7] , but there was no official confirmation from the Ukrainian authorities. On the contrary, the official representative of the Security Council of Ukraine, Roman Vibranovsky, denied the information about Lewthwaite’s presence in Ukraine, and the commander of the Aidar battalion, Sergey Melnichuk, said that “we have no“ white widows “and couldn’t be”, this is an attempt to “drive a wedge between us and our British allies ” [5] .
On November 15, the media denied the version of the death of Samantha Lewthwaite in the Donbass [8] .
